The reason that water is important for the body. After reading this week’s material and Monique visiting different patients that had different symptoms but I had to due to lack of water. The first patient 37 years old man who had lightheadedness, and vomiting excessive thirst it was because he was dehydrated. Not having enough water cause him to have all those symptoms without him knowing the reason. Not having enough water in your system can cause kidney failure due to the kidney’s need to maintain a balance of water in the body. Drinking water can be hard to do every day so I try my best personal to add crystal light to it if has a flavor I usually drink it quicker. Water is what keeps our system flushed out and helps clean your kidney and without it can cause you to be weak or even excessive your kidney into where you have been on dialysis.
Stay hydrated and keep your body healthy.

I can remember always being told by my mother that drinking water was good for me. I still have a hard time drinking water because I think water tastes nasty, but I do know that water is essential to my health. The threat that not drinking enough water can lead to kidney function problems was the greatest threat to my health. After reading this week’s material I have learned that water serves a much greater purpose than only kidney function. I have also heard that dehydration could occur if I did not drink enough water, however I did not know that dehydration affected brain function so severely. Learning that not drinking enough water causes my cells to shrivel is a scary thought. Replenishing electrolytes and water is something I have become aware of because of sports drinks commercials but never considered the seriousness of the problem. I have always been told that coffee and tea are diuretics and should be drunk in moderation because of its possible dehydration effects. However, I now understand better how much water needs to be consumed to prevent dehydration and overhydration. I have been diagnosed with a condition called Edema. I understand the swelling in the ankles and feet, but I have been told that this condition occurs when the brain does not recognize the body has enough water so it will retain water as a means of self-preservation. This is certainly an area where future scientific exploration would be interesting to me because it is still a topic related to water in my body that I do not fully understand.
